Once upon a time…

there was a little girl. This little girl liked ballet, swimming, playing outside, and modeling for her mommy. She especially liked it when her payment was that of the sweet variety (on this particular night, strawberry pop rocks, gifted by her very kind friend Damian). This little girl was willing to model all night long for that sweet treat – even foregoing the fun of splashing around so as not to get her dress wet. And so the fairy tale goes – the girl got her pop rocks (brother too, for she was nothing if not fair), and the mommy got her beautiful images, to keep as memories forever more!

Home Sweet Home!

Oh wow, I’m home! And what an amazing (yet exhausting) trip I had! The first part of the trip I didn’t get more than three hours sleep per night. One night we were picking up Outback Steakhouse takeout at 11pm. And then getting up at 3am the next morning for a beach sunrise shoot. Seriously, it was insane! But the friendships, the learning, really just everything goes down as a highlight in my life. We had the best hosts anyone could ask for – Amy, Hector, and Claire, plus teacher extraordinaire Andrea Joki. It was incredible, and I’m so glad and lucky to have shared in it all. The second part of my trip was spent with the lovely and talented Leah Profancik and her family. Lots of sleep was had (and boy did I need it) plus fun shoots with Leah’s gorgeous and wonderfully kind and polite children. Food, drinks, laughs, and photography. What more could a girl ask for? Well, maybe just to participate in some of Leah’s big and noisy family dinners.

I have about a million photos to go through and edit, but for now here’s just a couple! This girl was amazing and must have jumped for us a hundred times. Plus it was scorching that day!

I’m leavin’ on a jet plane…

I’m off on a grand adventure. First stop Philadelphia for some amazing learning with Andrea Joki, all the way from Finland. Now why was I complaining about my flight from Hawaii? She’s got much further to go than I do. She has generously offered to work with a small group of us who think she’s pretty amazing. I’m also crazy excited to hang out with my friends for five days. Then I’m off to see the lovely and talented Leah Profancik, and spend some time hanging out with her and her family. How lucky can one girl get? I will thankfully (just) make it back in time for Father’s Day, but I will sadly miss my husband’s birthday. This is my first time away from my kids, EVER. My daughter has been making moon eyes at me all day saying “but I don’t want you to go mommy”. My son, bless his heart, doesn’t understand I’ll be gone for a while. I hope he’ll be okay, but thankfully he will have plenty of Daddy time to make him feel better.

And in honor of my beautiful son, who recently celebrated his birthday, a few pictures from a recent beach outing. My baby is growing up :(

The “almost” birthday boy

I had a fun session with a great little guy yesterday. It’s his “almost” one year birthday. And lucky me, I got to witness his very first beach trip. He definitely made us work – mom, dad, and I were all dancing around, making crazy noises – anything to get this little Mr. Serious to crack a smile. I loved him! My son was exactly the same way at his age. Anyway, I have to say, these may be some of my favorite images ever!
