Australia!

Gosh, I can’t believe it’s been more than a month since my trip! It was a wonderful and inspiring workshop, organized by hostess extraordinaire Ainslie of WildSpirit Photography, and it was three fun-filled days of learning with some of the industry’s best – Nichole Van, Zack Arias, and JoeyL. How lucky was I to experience Australia for the first time, meet some amazing new friends, and learn some fabulous new skills all at the same time? I’m very thankful to have had the chance to participate! A special thank you also goes to my husband who stayed home with the kids alone, for the second time, and as usual did an amazing job. I know that I couldn’t do any of this without his support and for that I am eternally grateful. And of course no post would be complete without pictures – so I’m including a handful of shots from the workshop.

We were learning a lot of off camera lighting – the lighting in all of these were set up by either Zack or Joey, and then we were able to jump in and take our shots. Good times!

Three.

On my way home from Philly, I got to spend some time with friend and photographer extraordinaire, Leah Profancik, and her family. Leah had changed my life when she came to Hawaii last January for some one-on-one mentoring, so it was really fun for me to get to hang out with them in their environment and meet her kids. I had no just idea how attached I would get to them all in just five days, but we had a really great time – shopping, eating, and of course, shooting! I had been wanting to try my hand at urban photography, something Leah is pretty amazing with, so that’s what we did. And now I am on the look-out for some fun and funky spots here in Hawaii, so if you know of any, drop me a line, okay?!

And because my little guy is a lover of thumbs as well, I simply couldn’t resist…

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Rain and photo sessions just don’t go hand in hand so well! I worked with a neat family tonight, and unfortunately it drizzled the entire time. I had to rush home and edit this picture, because I wanted to make sure we got some great shots. I absolutely adore this picture, and I hope they do too!

I had a chance to do a couple more quick edits this morning so I wanted to come back and add them!

Home Sweet Home!

Oh wow, I’m home! And what an amazing (yet exhausting) trip I had! The first part of the trip I didn’t get more than three hours sleep per night. One night we were picking up Outback Steakhouse takeout at 11pm. And then getting up at 3am the next morning for a beach sunrise shoot. Seriously, it was insane! But the friendships, the learning, really just everything goes down as a highlight in my life. We had the best hosts anyone could ask for – Amy, Hector, and Claire, plus teacher extraordinaire Andrea Joki. It was incredible, and I’m so glad and lucky to have shared in it all. The second part of my trip was spent with the lovely and talented Leah Profancik and her family. Lots of sleep was had (and boy did I need it) plus fun shoots with Leah’s gorgeous and wonderfully kind and polite children. Food, drinks, laughs, and photography. What more could a girl ask for? Well, maybe just to participate in some of Leah’s big and noisy family dinners.

I have about a million photos to go through and edit, but for now here’s just a couple! This girl was amazing and must have jumped for us a hundred times. Plus it was scorching that day!
